Eden, a pioneer in sustainable natural resource recovery, has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Oman Ministry of Energy and Minerals (MEM) to lead the development of stimulated geologic hydrogen in Oman.

The Sultanate of Oman has set ambitious goals to become a global leader in clean hydrogen production, aiming for a production capacity of one million tons by 2030. This initiative capitalizes on Oman’s rich hydrogen reserves and its unique geological features.

The MoU was signed during a United States and Oman joint technical workshop on geologic hydrogen, part of their Strategic Dialogue for cooperation in the energy sector. The project aims to create secure and low-carbon energy solutions while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Eden’s role includes establishing the world’s first international test site for stimulated geologic hydrogen and conducting pilot tests of their patented Electrical Reservoir Stimulation (ERS) technology. The goal is to lead the first commercial development of stimulated geologic hydrogen in the world.

Oman’s vast peridotites make it an ideal location for this demonstration. Geologic hydrogen is generated through water reacting with iron-rich rocks in the subsurface, and stimulated geologic hydrogen is a novel approach that accelerates this process. Once proven in Oman, Eden plans to expand to suitable areas in the U.S. and beyond, positioning itself as a global leader in geologic hydrogen production.

This collaboration signifies a significant step towards sustainable energy solutions and harnessing Oman’s hydrogen potential for a greener future.
