In alignment with Oman Vision 2040 and its commitment to Net Zero plans, Nama Power and Water Procurement (PWP) is set to initiate a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Ibri III Solar Independent Power Project (IPP). The proposed solar PV project, with a capacity of 500 MW, is planned for implementation on a 10 million m2 site adjacent to the existing Ibri II Solar PV project in Al Dhahirah Governorate.

Announcing this milestone, Nama PWP expressed its dedication to clean and efficient power generation in Oman, inviting qualified entities to submit proposals for the Ibri III Solar IPP. The initiative aims to leverage cutting-edge solar technology for an environmentally friendly power solution with an anticipated capacity of 500 megawatts.

The estimated cost of the Ibri III Solar IPP is around RO 155 million, with a Scheduled Commercial Operation Date (SCOD) expected by the fourth quarter of 2026. Ahmed bin Salim al Abri, Acting CEO of Nama PWP, emphasized Oman’s ambitious goal of increasing renewable energy capacity and the project’s contribution to the green economy and sustainable energy production.

Ibri III Solar will play a pivotal role in advancing PWP’s annual renewable energy contribution of 1.5 TWh, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable practices and contributing to the Net Zero target. The project is projected to reduce CO2 emissions by 505,000 tonnes per year at full capacity.

As Nama PWP leads the procurement for this innovative project, it underscores the organization’s dedication to advancing power and water infrastructure while promoting environmentally conscious technologies. The Ibri Solar III IPP serves as evidence of Nama PWP’s ongoing efforts to shape a sustainable and resilient energy future for the communities it serves. As a member of Nama Group, Nama PWP exclusively procures power and water for Independent Power Projects (IPP), Independent Water and Power Projects (IWPP), and Independent Water Projects (IWP) in the Sultanate of Oman.
