The Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC), responsible for the country’s transmission grids, has announced the successful completion of tests to enable remote operation of the Ibri Solar Independent Power Project (IPP), also known as Ibri II Solar IPP. This project has a capacity of 500 MW, making it the largest grid-connected utility-scale solar power initiative currently operating in Oman.
Located in Al Dhahirah Governorate, the project is owned by the Shams Ad-Dhahirah Generating Company (SDGC), a partnership between ACWA Power, Gulf Investment Corporation (GIC), and Alternative Energy Projects Co (AEPC).
