After conducting the evaluation by the German Inspection Company for the “ACME” green hydrogen project in Duqm, it proved that the project meets all the criteria it has set to obtain this certificate by reviewing the various specific production methods, transportation methods and various hydrogen applications.

This international certificate allows the company to commercially produce green hydrogen and green ammonia for potential customers of this promising industry, which will contribute to encouraging such investments by obtaining long-term future sales contracts and renewable energy facilities provided by various countries around the world.

It also opens the door for the entry of various international companies to invest in the promising renewable energy sector in the Sultanate of Oman in general and the Special Economic Zone at Duqm in particular, and enhances government efforts to consolidate the position of Oman on the global map in the field of green hydrogen production and export as the first country in the world to obtain this certificate International and contribute to the transition to alternative energy and diversification of sources of income.

Engineer Yahya bin Khamis Al-Zadjali, in charge of running the work of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm, said that the company’s obtaining this certificate confirms the promising future of the renewable energy sector in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm, which has a strategic location near global energy sources, in addition to the completion of infrastructure such as ports and roads, which facilitates the export of these energy to different countries of the world.

For his part, Manoj Obadiai, Chairman of ACME’s Board of Directors, confirmed that the company’s obtaining the world’s first commercial green hydrogen production certificate represents a major step for the company’s project in Duqm, where the green hydrogen certification will pave the way for defining practical standards for the green certification.

The company’s project will contribute to the localization of this promising industry, for which the General Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones has allocated about 200 square kilometres in Duqm.

It is noteworthy that in August 2021, ACME signed a land reservation agreement for the green hydrogen project in the Duqm Special Economic Zone, which is expected to produce 100,000 tons of green ammonia annually in the first phase of the project.
